Captain Clive Hotham

Head of the Marine Short Courses & Simulator

Captain Clive Hotham is the Head of the Marine Short Courses & Simulator Department at Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.

Captain Clive Hotham brings more than 45 years of maritime experience to the role, in 17 of them he was as a Master Mariner on a variety of vessels in worldwide trading.

For the last 14 years has been involved in Maritime Education and Training. As well as extensive knowledge of maritime professional subjects that are core to the maritime world, his expertise is in Marine Simulation as a Tool for Education, Training, and Research.

Captain Clive Hotham has an MSc in Maritime Operations.

Captain Khurshid Khalid

Master Mariner

Captain Khurshid Khalid has over sixteen years of sailing experience including commanding on ocean-going vessels of the reputed shipping companies, and he is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (MICS) U.K.

Captain Khurshid Khalid has been teaching Logistics and Supply Chain Management to MBA students of various Universities along with ICS subjects since 1995 and has been conducting tailor-made courses for the Pakistan Navy. He had served as a Lecturer in Nautical Studies for three years with the Maritime Academy of Malaysia (ALAM)

Captain Khurshid Khalid has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the U.K. with distinction.

Captain Varun Rawat

Short Course Instructor

Captain Varun Rawat is a Short Courses Instructor at Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.

Captain Rawat has been in the Maritime industry spanning 30 years, he spent 13 years as a  Master Mariner with recent sea-going experience having 8 years in command as Captain of various vessels including the world’s largest Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC).

He has been involved in Maritime Education and training since 2009 teaching Competency and Simulator courses to all levels of Deck officers in one of the UK’s top nautical institutions.

Additionally he has worked as a Nautical Course Consultant for the world’s largest ship management company where he revised, conducted various competency and professional Maritime including Simulators courses and on behalf of GlobalMET, was responsible for revising, updating and developing the entire new 2014 edition IMO Model Course 7.01 Master and Chief Mate & has assisted in the revision of IMO Model Course, 7.03 -Officer in charge of a navigational watch.

Captain Rawat is holder of a Master (Unlimited) Competency Certificate from the U.K and apart from designing and authoring more than 300 modules as distance learning materials for a tablet based Proficiency and Learning System he has also assisted the Directorate General of Shipping, India to develop and standardize the examination syllabus of India addressing the 2010 Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention and Code.

Dr. Wilfredo Erenio Yutuc

Academic Programmes Instructor

Dr Wilfredo Erenio Yutuc is a certified Chief Marine Engineer, Ship’s Technical Superintendent, and engine room simulator trainer and assessor.

Dr Wilfredo Erenio Yutuc is a marine professional with 27 years of combined onboard and onshore experience. He has been in maritime education, training and research for 14 years.

He is a Chartered Engineer (UK Engineering Council), Chartered Marine Engineer, Chartered Marine Technologist, a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) and a life member of the International Maritime Lecturers’ Association (IMLA).

Dr Wilfredo Erenio Yutuc holds a PhD degree in Maritime Education.

Captain Rezaul Islam

Nautical Lecturer

He is a qualified Class 1 Master Mariner (UK) and Nautical Lecturer in Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.

Captain Rezaul Islam has over 31 years’ experience in the international shipping, maritime field and over ten years’ of senior management experience on-board vessels.

He has extensive multi-national and multicultural sailing experience working in all sea areas on different vessels serving worldwide.

His extensive and diverse experience in shipping includes teaching at the Nautical College in the UK for the last 8 years and he is a proud Associate Fellow of Nautical Institute (AFNI).

Captain Rezaul Islam holds MBA in HRM (Canada) and Post-graduation in TQFE (UK).

Srecko Tripovic

Marine TOT Instructor

Srecko Tripovic BSc is a certified Instructor at Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy and a TOT specialist with more than 20 years of experience in seafarer training with a particular emphasis on the use of simulators for training and assessment.

His in-depth knowledge of the operation of navigational and communication simulators led to a 10-year experience in the train-the-trainer role for new instructors on behalf of one of the major maritime simulator developers and makers.

In addition to the use of simulators in maritime training and the implementation of the QMS standards in the maritime training sector, he gained 15 years of experience as the training manager of a state-of-the-art international maritime training centre.
