The course is an introduction to the operation and utilisation of Azimuthing propulsion systems.
The course is an introduction to the operation and utilisation of Azimuthing propulsion systems.
The participant will be given the underpinning knowledge needed with regard to the different advantages and hazards of azimuthing propulsion.
Practical exercises will give the participants an appreciation of the use of azimuthing propulsion, to efficiently and safely manoeuvre a vessel.
The course will be particularly suitable for Pilots engaged on vessels with Azimuthing propulsion to enhance their awareness of the manoeuvres being carried out.
The aim of the training programme is to increase the safe manoeuvring and navigation of vessels equipped with azimuthing propulsion.
At the end of the training the participant will be aware of:
- Different types of azimuthing propulsion
- Different types of controls
- Advantages and disadvantages of azimuthing propulsion
- The principles of using azimuthing propulsion for berthing and un-berthing

Entry Requirements: There are no pre-entry requirements but it is expected that participants should have previously received training and gained experience in basic ship handling
