This is a one-day course aimed to give the participants an overview and understanding of: Risk management in the shipping industry, The risk assessment process, Incident investigation, Identifying events and causal factors, Emergency Response.

This is a one day course aimed to give the participants an overview and understanding of:

  1. Risk management in the shipping industry

How risk management assists with the safeguarding of lives, the environment, the vessel, and its cargo.

  1. The risk assessment process

The practical application of risk assessment. The tools available for carrying out risk assessments and the stages involved together with the identification of hazards that pose a risk.

  1. Incident investigation

The parties involved in investigations, the creation of reports and techniques for interviewing witnesses and gathering information.

  1. Identifying events and causal factors

The identification of incidents and their cause. How the review of past incidents can be used to improve the risk management process and improve safety.

  1. Emergency Response

The actions to be taken and communications to be made when an incident occurs.

The course is delivered by sessions of Theory, Practical Tasks, and Case Study Reviews.
