Liquefied Gas Carrier Safety and Operations

The demand for a clean and safe fuel source alternative has, over the last 15 years, driven the Liquefied Gas Transport Industry to expand at a significant rate. A shortage of trained technical staff across all sectors of the Gas industry has driven demand upwards resulting in higher salaries than other energy sectors.

This Liquefied Gas Tanker Course will act as a stepping stone into this vastly complex and technically innovative industry by helping to replace a “fear factor” for new entrants with real, relevant and current knowledge, furthermore it will act as a ‘knowledge bridge’ to ensure those already within the Gas Industry, stay suitably aware of safe operational practice. This course is based upon the standards outlined by SIGTTO (Society of Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators) and the competency standards for marine operators.

The programme will provide an overview to compare and contrast the purpose of design, construction and operation of Liquefied Gas Tankers. Cargo Management from source to domestic delivery and use will be explained in the context of the marine environment. Delegates will have the opportunity to critically examine on-board cargo systems and review the advances being made in safe carriage, containment and environmental considerations for safe operations. New technologies will be examined and explained, including the rationale for further developments. Delegates involved with the management and administration of gas ships and gas cargoes will gain beneficial knowledge of working practices on board ships including considerations of out-turn, commercial awareness and established practices.
