Course Duration
5 to 7 weeks dependent on prior qualifications, days.

- STCW Basic Fire Fighting
- STCW Personal Survival
- STCW First Aid
- STCW Personal safety & social responsibility
- STCW Security awareness training
- GMDSS ROC (Restricted Operator Certificate), or higher
Assessment:
All Theory examinations will be conducted under the supervision of the MoEI.
The summative Oral examination, of candidates who have successfully completed the training programme, will be carried out by the MoEI in accordance with the qualifications syllabus.
Attendance:
100% attendance is required.
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must provide evidence of the following on application to enrol on the course:
- Proof of age (passport or ID)
- High School Certificate (if not available a testimonial stating the duration and experience of the candidate in maritime employment – Note: this option is time limited and will cease to be available after October 2021)
- Certificate of Proficiency in English – The certificate should be from an approved English language testing centre meeting IELTS Level 4, EMSAT 875 points, or the Marlins/ISF English test or proof of English as native language (Passport)
- A Seafarers Medical and Eyesight Test – From an MoEI approved medical centre
