Basic Harbour Towage

Our Tug Training courses are provided in partnership with Tug Training & Consultancy whose trainers are highly experienced experts in tugs and towage.

This training program is a combination of theoretical lecturing, instruction and practical training in the simulator on either conventional or Azimuthing propulsion tugs.

This training program is a combination of theoretical lecturing, instruction and practical training in the simulator on either conventional or Azimuthing propulsion tugs.

Some examples of the topics addressed during this course are:

  • Connecting to moored vessels and vessels at moderate speed with and without current
  • Coming alongside
  • Push-pull
  • Following up pilot commands
  • Direct and transverse arrest
  • Direct and indirect steering

By limiting the number of candidates on a course each candidate will benefit from the maximum hands-on time in the simulator

Course Details

Course Duration: 5 Days

Assessment: Continuous Observation & Attendance

Attendance: 100% attendance is required

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements but it is expected that the candidates will have undergone prior tug training such as the Towage & Tug Knowledge or Tug Handling Basic courses.
