Mr. A. Ali Shehab

Acting CEO, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC)

Mr. Ali Shehab Ahmad is the Global Director of Special Projects & Services in DNV-GL. Previously he held the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief: Executive Fleet Operations of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), the Maritime Transportation arm of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), and in this role he oversaw the Fleet Operations, Marine Agency Branch and LPG Filling Branch(s) that supplies LPG to the whole of Kuwait.

Prior to assuming the Deputy Chief Executive Fleet Operations role in mid-2013, Mr. Ali Shehab successfully managed KOTC’s multi-billion-dollar Fleet Building Programme that aims to expand KOTC’s tankers to increase oil production capacity to 4 million barrels per day, using modern environmentally friendly technologies for safety and the prevention of pollution.

As a Marine Engineer, he has spent extensive amounts of time onboard KOTC vessels, including in the capacity of Marine Chief Engineer, and was responsible for the training and development of Marine Engineers and Deck Cadets onboard KOTC and KOC.

Mr. Ali Shehab is a graduate of South Tyneside College (Marine College), United Kingdom. He serves as the Chairman of KOTC’s Risk Operating Committee, and is a distinguished Chairman and Board Member of KOTC’s subsidiary shipping companies. Furthermore, he is the Honourary Chairman of the DNV- GL Middle East Technical Committee (since 2015), Deputy Chairman of ClassNKK and a fellow member of the Institute of Marine Engineers (IMarEST).
