Dr. Abdullatif M. AlShamsi

President & CEO, Higher Colleges of Technology

Dr. Abdullatif M. AlShamsi holds the title of President and CEO for the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s largest applied higher educational institution and the nation’s first approved university economic free zone, empowering it to graduate companies in alignment with the directives of the leadership of the UAE.

Previously, Dr. AlShamsi was the Managing Director of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) for seven years, where he established Applied Technology High Schools, Fatima College for Health Sciences and Abu Dhabi Polytechnic. He started his career at UAE University as Associate Professor and was later appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research. During this tenure, he founded a University-wide Internship and Work Integrated Learning.

Dr. AlShamsi has authored more than 35 research articles in world-class scientific journals and international conferences. His latest publications include a series of books published in Arabic titled “The Make of Education”.

Dr. AlShamsi received his Ph.D. from Duke University, USA in 1997 and his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Boston University. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) and member of Emirates College for Advanced Education’s board of trustees. He furthermore holds memberships in several higher committees and educational advisory councils.
