Pilot Training – Emergencies

This course is designed to meet the requirements laid down in  IMO A.960(23), section 5.5.5 and 6.1.

This course is conducted in accordance with international best practice, utilising both Full Mission Simulation and briefings, and contributes towards Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

This course focuses on practical ship handling in emergency situations, based on best practice and theoretical knowledge gained from reviews of past incidents, both internationally and at a clients’ port.

The course can be tailored to the candidate’s level of expertise as well as to likely scenarios at a client’s port.

Tasks of increasing difficulty will be conducted in the simulator, reflecting the emergency scenario’s that may be encountered and will include at least the following:

1. Steering limitation/failure
2. Engine limitation/failure
3. Tug limitation/failure
4. Aborts
5. Abort Planning
6. Environmental conditions such as squalls and restricted visibility
