Ship Handling Training

Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy’s Marine Short Course & Simulator Department has the most advanced and extensive suite of simulators in the region, which incorporates four specialised full mission bridges.

With three of the bridges having 360° field of view visuals in HD/UHD, one with enhanced bridge wing views in HD, and the fourth having 270° field of view visuals in UHD with an extended vertical field of view, they are ideally suited to carrying out Ship Handling Training. Each bridge is configured for specific roles; Ships, Tugs, Offshore etc. and each has real-world controls and equipment for any possible vessel configuration.

Our in-house expertise and partnerships with specialists in particular vessel types and/or manoeuvres mean that we can create and provide training for:

• Basic training in the approach to ports and anchoring
• Channel Navigation
• Berthing and Un-berthing, with and without Tugs/Thrusters etc.
• Underway alongside manoeuvres
• Emergency Scenarios
• Single Screw, Twin Screw, Azimuthing propulsion systems
• Conventional, Becker, Schilling, and Azimuthing steering systems
• Tunnel and Azimuthing Thrusters

Any or all of the above can be combined as well as providing combined training for multiple vessels.

All environmental effects can be applied dynamically, and all scenarios can be executed both in daylight, night, and reduced visibility
