This GMDSS course is intended for those who wish to obtain a Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Short Range Certificate. and attain a certificate that is acceptable for both IALA VTS Operators and, when recognized by the Maritime Administration, for persons operating VHF radio on Non-SOLAS vessels.
- Operating skills of the GMDSS equipment within the assigned area.
- Having the primary responsibility to radio communications during distress-, urgency-, safety and routine incidents.
- Resolving the problems which will be being experienced in the GMDSS as a result of the large amount of false Distress alerts that sometimes occur.
- The techniques to avoid the unintentional transmission of false distress alerts.
The practical DSC alerting and marine radio procedures and techniques used in Distress, Urgency, Safety and Routine situations experience and skills.

Attendance: 100% attendance is required
Entry Requirements: There are no specific educational requirements to attend the course, but candidates must have a suitable standard of communication and comprehension in the English Language along with some computer skills.
